Platform for Public Deliberation Has Taken Another Form
With the departure of Professor Xolela Mangcu from South Africa's public intellectual space, now based at Georgetown University in the US, a significant void has been left—one both profound and deeply felt. The Braai and Brains movement, anchored by the Hellenistic Spirit of South Africa Educational Program, seeks to fill that void by reigniting robust public discourse. Professor Mangcu had conceptualized the Platform for Public Deliberation and served as its Executive Chairman. Though originally based at Wits University, the Platform extended its reach, establishing branches at the University of Johannesburg, University of Cape Town, University of Limpopo, and Nelson Mandela University, fostering critical thought and dialogue across the country.
